March 25th, 2026, Eastlake High School
The National Honor Society (NHS) hosted a blood drive on March 25th at Eastlake High School. We got intel from Mr. Thompson, A school official, about the importance of donating blood and the steps if you decide to.
According to Mr. Thompson, the process to donate blood is very simple. There are a couple steps you take to make sure that there is no difficulty in giving the blood or after and those steps are: making sure you rest well enough the night before, don’t eat for 12 hours before the blood drive, when giving blood make sure to stay still and not worry as professionals are doing the work, make sure to eat and drink right after to get more energy.
The process to give blood is simple and easy, and it has a huge effect on those suffering from diseases like cancer or leukemia, which we talked more about with Mr. Thompson. His sister suffered from Leukemia, and he donated blood to help find a cure for her condition. This is just one of the thousands who struggle with leukemia every year, and donating blood can help study what works to cure these. A simple donation can save lives.
