Mock Trial Competition

Over winter break, Eastlake’s Mock Trial team traveled to Port Townsend, WA, to compete in a scrimmage.

During their Issaquah scrimmage, sophomore silver attorney Sara Sunil (she/her) says the team “did really well…and got a lot of positive feedback from the raters”. She further expressed her confidence in future success from “working with multiple judges to refine [their] work further.”

Mock Trial is a club that helps build understanding in how to argue a side of a case and learn from trained judges and attorneys. The club’s members encourage Eastlake students to join with incentives of increased confidence, legal proficiency, productivity, and food.

In Mock Trial, there are two roles: attorney and witness. Teams are assigned either prosecution or defense before the scrimmage, and from there (depending on their part), present evidence, cross-examine, give witness statements, and so on.

If this is of any interest to you, be sure to join the mock trial team in the 2023-2023 school year, and follow their Instagram @mcktrl
