As Spring returns to Eastlake, so do band concerts, the Eastlake band put on a stunning performance last Wednesday which marked the first concert of 2024. We interviewed some of the musicians who performed to get their take on how they felt playing again. “I feel it was pretty good, it was better than what I heard in the rehearsals, so I was feeling pretty good about it”, said Trinay Kamesh, a senior who’s in his fourth year of band playing the Alto Saxophone.
Band often practices for weeks in preparation for a performance, and the concert on Wednesday was proof of all their hard work. Trinay went into detail on what it takes to get the band concert-ready.
“Our band director will hand out music and we’ll play it for the first time and hope things work out.”
“After that we’ll start actually practicing it, playing some and polish some sections that may need more work.”
“In the final stages we’ll go out to the stage and fix some final details we notice during the last rehearsals.”
Trinay wasn’t the only one who felt good about his performance on Wednesday. Fellow band member Patrick Irimescu was also pleased with the music he played last week. “My favorite piece that we played was probably Persis, considering I’m in the trombone section it definitely had more action and more stuff for us to do.”
Make sure to keep an eye out for when the next concert will be and come see our talented Eastlake musicians!
