You may have heard of Eastlake’s award-winning robotics club competing for championships, but what exactly does Pack of Parts do?
When we spoke to club president Ishita Jalla about the club’s activities, she explained that “we’re in our preseason where we train new members.” Members get trained in different sub teams consisting of project management with CAD, programming, build, and electrical. Members can also be trained in the executive team working in business and pr. All these teams are focused around one task, to win the FRC (First Robotics Competition).
In this competition teams are given certain tasks, or parameters to meet. They then have just six weeks to build, design, and test a robot. While this may seem complicated or stressful, we were reassured by the vice president of the club, PK, that competitions were not all bad. He described them as fun, hectic, and engaging. The goal of all this work is to compete in Worlds and to build further connections to the robotics industry. The executive team works closely with Fortune 500 companies such as Boeing and Microsoft.
If you are interested in pursuing robotics, then this club is a great way to kickstart that career as it helps build connections to these companies or even to other like-minded individuals. Pack of Parts is striving to be more inclusive. The club is searching for anyone who is interested in robotics, willing to learn, and not afraid to make mistakes.
