There is a new Choice High School coming to the area. Lake Washington School District sent the plans (shown above) in around a month ago, and it has not yet been approved by the state. Although many specifics are still unknown, according to the plans, it will be 80,000 sq ft and three stories tall. Even though it is this large, it will only be suited for about 600 students. The property will be located across the street from Eastside Catholic and EC does not seem to happy about it.
There is already seven schools in this area alone, so adding one more may cause more traffic. It already takes around ten minutes to get down the hill to Eastlake, and adding another school would cause more of a backup.
Some people may believe that when a new school is added in an area, that will decrease the student numbers in their school. That wont be the case here. This will take kids from all around Lake Washington and possibly more districts, increasing the amount of cars on the road. Because it is a High School, most students will be able to drive, meaning more young drivers trying to get to school around the same time.
