Vacationing students to face GPA drops if pre-arranged absence steps ignored

EASTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL – Students must take the appropriate steps to plan for days they will knowingly be absent or face grade-implicating consequences of not doing so.

As the end of the school year comes ever closer, many families are finalizing vacation plans – some cutting into the school year itself. For those this is the case for, these steps need to be taken:

  1. Inform the school through [email protected]. Possible attendance codes include F for family matters, V for vacation, or M for medical.
  2. Contact teachers about planned absences. Teachers are not required to excuse students from classwork or provide alternatives, meaning it is important communication is maintained.

Failure to complete either of these may result in dis-enrollment (should a student be absent for 20+ consecutive days) and grade decreases.
