Many swim coaches, including the likes of Bob Bowman, coach of the most decorated Olympian of all time, believe that the path to success is forged by three principles. Vision, grit, and perseverance. For Benchwarmers Athlete of the Month Connor Brown, “it’s been a long and difficult road” but it is those three principles that are taking his athletic and academic career to the next level at Cornell University in New York.

Athletic Achievement

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound senior swimmer has incredibly competitive times with a 100-meter breaststroke (SCY) of 55.53 and a 100-meter free (SCY) of 47.40.  Last December he ranked 10th in the nation and 5th in Washington.  He led the Eastlake Wolves to a great season finish and broke school records for several swim events. He also placed 5th in the 100-meter breaststroke at the Spring Speedo Sectional in Arizona this past season.

Academic Achievement

Brown has maintained a 4.0 GPA in the classroom. He will be swimming D1 at Cornell in the fall and will be graduating from Eastlake this spring. With a rigorous course load and an impressive athletic performance, Connor has been putting in the work and reaping the rewards.
